Roger Gordon named John M Harcourt Memorial Award winner

We are so proud to announce that our very own Roger Gordon was awarded the John M Harcourt Memorial Award at the 2021 Property Institute of New Zealand (PINZ) and New Zealand Institute of Valuers (NZIV) conference.

The John M Harcourt Memorial Award is decided annually at the discretion of the NZIV Council. The award is obtained by someone who the Council considers to have given outstanding service to the valuation profession through their personal involvement in projects and great contribution to the community during the calendar year or over a longer period of time.

The award winner is engaged within the association and commended by their colleagues.

"Our winner meets and even exceeds this criteria. He was advanced to Fellow back in 2016 but it is his contribution to the profession since then that has warranted this particular award."

Roger has experience in Hamilton and the greater Waikato region, including the provincial towns. Most of his work in the past 10 years has been undertaken in Hamilton, Cambridge, Morrinsville and Te Aroha.

He specialises in motel and camp ground valuation, as well as the residential market with active involvement in the higher priced residential and lifestyle properties, coastal subdivision and development projects. He maintains an active involvement in industrial valuations and the insurance assessment market within Hamilton City and provincial towns. He has experience in advisory work, including project development options for private developers.

Roger served as President of NZIV for a two-year term. This was extended for another year due to his popularity and effectiveness.

He stepped down in 2019 but remained on hand to assist council for more than a year. He also served on the PINZ finance audit and risk committee.

"He has devoted countless hours and massive amounts of energy to advance the valuation profession. This person has been a shoulder to lean on, a talented confidant and a voice of the institute."

Roger contributes valuable wisdom and expertise and is very well deserving of the John M Harcourt Memorial Award.
